Membership Renewals

Hello everyone, please see below information about renewing your club membership. There is a lot of information here , and to be honest it is hard to get it all on a mobile phone screen so ideally please read this on a full sized screen for the best effect! We start with a message from Don, our membership secretary.

Hello all you lovely Club Members,

It’s that time again, sorry to impinge on your Christmas festivities/schedule/trauma/panic (delete which is not appropriate), but the end of the year is fast approaching.

We are altering the registration system for memberships, this is for legal reasons, and the initial setup requires a little bit of form filling, sorry about that, and I realise that you have already told us most of the detail previously.

The fees for the year 2024 are shown in detail on the website unfortunately, as ever, there is a cost increase for the year ahead, the Pool charges have increased (again) and the SLSGB fee has also increased. We also need to factor in the cost of erecting and dismantling the Club Hut each year. If you attended the AGM you will have heard that finances for the club are quite tight, it is fortunate that so many members give up time to coach and support the club free of charge, for this we are truly grateful.

Now all you have to do is use the link here and then complete a form for each member, sorry such a lot of form filling.

Everyone must have filled out a WSLSC Membership Form by 31 January 2024. Here is the link: https://forms.gle/rshMiQ6XNyd93Nbw9

Having done all that, be sure to amend any bank standing orders that you already have, (we don’t want you overpaying!)

Hope you have a lovely Christmas, and see you on the beach New Year’s Day at 11.00am for a refreshing dip.

Cheers

Don

What is included in your membership? The ethos of our club is inclusivity. Your membership fee covers core training sessions (some have additional costs).

All Nippers, Youth, Senior and Masters MUST be a member of SLSGB. Your club membership fee includes this £30 cost per person.

Limpets are not required to be members of SLSGB but you may wish to join them so they are insured.

Membership of SLSGB includes, insurance and liability cover.

Club membership includes use of club equipment if needed. All club equipment remains stored in the club hut when not in use except in exceptional circumstances with the permission of your section rep. We aim to keep fees as affordable as possible. If you are struggling to pay fees please speak to your section rep.
SLSGB MembershipSLSGB is our governing body and your membership fee provides affiliation and insurance during organised sessions. It costs £30 and for everyone bar Limpets is included in the club membership costs above.

Once you have completed your membership form, our membership secretary manages the entire process – thank you Don!
Parent MembershipWe require at least one parent to be a member of the club per family if your child is under 16 years of age.

This is because members under the age of 16 require parental support with equipment and training and your membership includes public liability insurance . This is not optional.

All of the coaches and all of the committee are volunteers. They give up their time – and pay for their own membership – to help your children.

It is important that parents help out and volunteer in some way. If you are not comfortable going in the sea please help out with the beach sessions, fundraising or anywhere else that your skills can be put to use.
Additional trainingAdditional training is at an individual’s discretion. Many of our older athletes train much more frequently than just the club sessions. Please speak to your coach if you are planning additional training. The more your coach knows about you the better they can support you.
CoachesIf you volunteer to coach, you will still need to pay the parent membership, unless you pay as a Master. We ask you to do this so that you are covered by public liability insurance and we thank you for supporting the club
DBSAll adults who volunteer in any capacity that brings them into contact with under 18s muct be DBS checked. Our safeguarding officers will arrange this
