We recognise that the success and enjoyment of our Surf Life Saving Club relies upon a healthy and thriving ocean and environment. In line with the Devon Carbon Plan and to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals we, as a club aim to ensure that sustainability and the protection of the environment is an intrinsic part of how the club operates in order to minimise our impact as much as we can.
We believe that we can help to create a ripple effect of change in our community alongside other Surf Life Saving Clubs and community groups.
With the help and guidance of local environmental charity Plastic Free North Devon we are bringing sustainability into the heart of all our decision making and want everyone to come on board with us on this journey.
In order for us to achieve the above we have done the following:
- Adoption of an overall club Environmental Policy
- Adoption of an Environmental Code of Conduct for members
- Creation of a 2024 Environmental Plan
- Creation of a Sustainability Officer on the committee
